Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, automated vacuum cleaner isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation capabilities and is better able to maneuver its own.
